The Baggy Brown is an Australian
icon.

Along with The Sydney Harbour Bridge, Ayers Rock, CUB Beer,
Boonie, Ned Kelly, Kylie, Elle and Vegemite, the Baggy Brown is more than just a
thing, it's entrenched into the Australian way of life as a shining beacon to
all that is good and right........and sometimes not so right
Steve Waugh mentions in one of his books that the Baggy
Green Cap that the Australian Test Cricket Team wear and hold in such high
regard is merely a copy of the incomparable Baggy Brown Cap from the Hawks
Cricket Club.
Throughout history, the Baggy Brown has appeared in many
places, in magical moments in World History, Famous Sporting Events, in
Hollywood and even in some infamous and less desirable circumstances.
Below you will find pictorial evidence of the many strange and wonderful places
the Baggy Brown has cropped up. Just click on the Thumbnail for a bigger
image that will open in a new window.

Special thanks to Steve 'Rinsey' Raymond who submitted the
ideas for the following 3 new pictures of the Baggy Brown through history!
Roger Bannister broke the 4 minute mile barrier on May 6,
1954. Time magazine ran a story on him and as you can clearly see by the
picture and the headline, Roger was using the hat to aerodynamically propel
himself through the wind barrier. Bannister wont admit it because he's a
Pommy Bastard but there is scientific proof that the only reason he ran the 4
minute mile was the help he got by wearing a Baggy Brown!
Pictured
here from left to right are Commander Neil A. Armstrong, Command Module pilot
Michael Collins, Lunar Module pilot Edwin E. Aldrin. Collins refused to
wear the Baggy Brown making the decision as to which astronaut missed out on the first Moon
Walk an easy one for NASA scientists. Some say that had Collins
stepped out that door and onto the Lunar surface, Armstrong and Aldrin were going to lock him out as they
were appalled at his contempt for the Baggy Brown
Who will ever forget that leapfrog into the 70's Porn stardom a young and
unknown John Holmes got when he starred in the low budget smash hit big 'What's
behind the Baggy Brown?' Let me give you a tip......it aint baggy!!

occasion!"
Nelson Mandela is one of many world leaders who have been presented with their

Not all Baggy Browns are used for good. Here's a picture of ex 4th XI leg
spinner Ben Larden. Ben played at the Hawks for a year or so but was asked
not to return after he started re wiring everyone's cars in the car park without
permission. No one is sure where he went........
Shappelle Corby disgraced the Baggy Brown by allegedly attempting to smuggle
drugs into Bali. In this photo you can clearly see her captors leading her
away, one holding her right arm and a Baggy Brown while the guard on her left
has a bag of something suspicious in his hand. Later, the Australian
Embassy in Indonesia were able to change the details from a Baggy Brown Cap to a
Boogie Board Cover (note the same initials of a B-B-C) to protect the integrity
of the coveted Baggy Brown.
